The Mathematics faculty at Kogarah High School concentrates on students meeting the outcomes of each of the courses in Years 7 to 12. Our aim is for students to reach their potential whilst enjoying learning about mathematics and seeing its relevance in our world.

Homework and Assessment

Students are set homework after each Mathematics lesson. Assessment is ongoing such that students get to demonstrate their understanding of topics over a number of tests, assignments, presentations and major examinations. An emphasis in the classroom is the setting out and presentation of working in each students bookwork. This is an extremely important aspect in Mathematics. Students need to communicate their understanding of a concept by clearly setting out a solution to each question asked.

Senior Mathematics courses

All levels of Mathematics are offered in the senior courses, with Extension 2 running every year. Students are encouraged to choose the level that is appropriate to their ability so they can perform at their best.
