The school library provides a wide range of
resources to support learning in the school and to
encourage recreational reading by the students. A well-stocked non-fiction
section a good
selection of reference books, such as dictionaries,
encyclopaedias and atlases, for the students to use
for research assignments is available.
The fiction collection includes a section of graded
books which are used by the students in the Home
Reading Program and can be borrowed by any student. The fiction collection is added to
on a regular basis with new, mostly Australian,
fiction for younger readers.
The library is fully automated with a network of 11
computers which can be used to search for library
books in our online catalogue. The computers can
also be used by students to access the internet for
research or to use a word processor, or other
software, to complete their assignments.
Students have access to a colour laser printer to
print their work from a computer in the library. A
fee is charged for this service as the printer
consumables are quite expensive. The colour laser
printer also acts as a colour photocopier which is
operated by library staff on request. A similar fee
is charged for this service also.
The Home Reading Program operates through the
library. To support this program the library houses
the graded fiction and non fiction resources. These
resources are identified by coloured dots on the
spine and are located at the end of the fiction
collection.
The library is open at 8.30am each day and at recess
and lunchtime most days of the week. It is closed on
Monday at recess and on Wednesday at lunchtime. The
borrowing limit for students in years 7 to 10 is 2
fiction books and 2 non fiction books. In years 11
and 12 the borrowing limit is increased to 4 fiction
and 4 non fiction books. The loan period is for 2
weeks.
