HSIE: Important Information

NOTE BOOK

Students in Year 7 to 10 are required to work in an A4 notebook, which is to be covered and brought to class every lesson. Each student is expected to keep his or her notebook neat, complete and up-to-date. Textbooks will be provided at school as and when required.

HOMEWORK

The purpose of homework is to develop further the student’s skills and knowledge studied in class and to develop good work and study habits at home. Teachers in the HSIE faculty give homework on a regular basis and students are expected to complete this in the specified time. You will be notified by letter if your child is not completing their homework. Even when homework is not formally set students should revise the work given in class. Parents can help by reinforcing the importance of homework.

SCHOOL DIARY

Please check your child’s school diary for homework, assessments and up coming events and exams.

FIELDWORK, SITE STUDIES AND EXCURSIONS

These are an integral and important part of any course in the HSIE faculty. For History and Geography these are both mandatory components of the courses. Permission letters are always sent to parents outlining the details and cost of these activities.

ASSESSMENT TASKS and/or ASSIGNMENTS

At the beginning of each year students are given an assessment task schedule, which outlines the type of tasks, the dates scheduled and the weighting of each task. All tasks are mandatory.
