Fieldwork

Fieldwork is an essential part of the study of Geography. It is a geographical tool that facilitates the understanding of geographical processes and geographical inquiry. Fieldwork enhances learning opportunities for a wide range of students to further develop their understanding of the topic areas being studied because it caters for a variety of teaching and learning styles.

All fieldwork is mandatory

In Stage 4, fieldwork uses Australian examples in teaching/learning programs to facilitate understanding of global issues and environments. .

In Stage 5, students undertake significant fieldwork activities in which they develop and implement a Research Action Plan. The outline of the Research Action Plan is as follows:

  3. Decide which primary and secondary data are needed to answer the focus questions.
  4. Identify the techniques that will be used to collect the data.
  5. Collect primary and secondary data.
  6. Process and analyse the data collected.
