Principals Report
(Presented by Marianne Siokos)

Thu 18th September is year 9 welfare day. Students will be able to focus on goals for the future and what they want to do when they leave school.

Marianne Siokos is heading a group to plan the expansion of resources and improvements for KHS library. Three schools in the district were visited to get ideas of what could be included in the development of KHS library. A time-line and budget proposal will be set by this term. This will be a 3 year plan.

An Idea was proposed that KHS should also be linked to Kogarah council Library so students can use these resources.

By the end of the year, a library policy will be in place for students to follow.

BLOGS – KHS has only one blog at the moment – dear420.edublogs.org. Other blogs will be posted on the KHS website by teachers and students as a method of study and resource support.

Note:  A list of KHS classroom blogs is available here:

General Business

Parents have heard a rumour that Principal, Fred Carosi is about to leave the school. Can this be confirmed or denied?

Need for better communication between teachers when planning assignments for junior students. Parents complained that too many times students have been given assignments by different teachers at the same time, placing undue stress on younger students.

It has been alleged that some Year 12 students have got access to answers for HSC trial chemistry and biology papers. All students have been told that they will have to re-sit the exam and results will only count for 20% of the total assessment instead of 40%. The question was asked why are all students disadvantaged because of a few?

What is happening with the student lockers ?

KHS newsletter will be revamped under the guidance of Stephen Alexander.

P&C has been invited to contribute to KHS newsletter. Passage to be submitted before the end of the week.

P&C believes there is a place for fundraising in to school in some form. How ?…will be discussed in to future meeting.
